Virtual Conference

The Annual Conference of the Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies is a forum for the exchange of ideas and critical information regarding the management and protection of fish and wildlife resources primarily in the southeast. The conference attracts over 500 representatives from state and federal agencies, citizen’s organizations, universities, and private wildlife research groups, fisheries and wildlife scientists, agency enforcement personnel, and other natural resource related organizations.

Missouri Conservation DepartmentFollowing thoughtful discussion and evaluation, and out of an abundance of caution, we deemed it would not be feasible to conduct a large in-person event in 2020. We’ve recently decided to hold the 74th Annual Conference as a Virtual Event!  Due to the ongoing impact of the pandemic, holding a virtual conference is the best way to engage, share and connect with the natural resources community. We look forward to connecting with all of you online! Learn more in the SEAFWA Virtual Conference section below.

The Missouri Department of Conservation is looking forward to hosting the virtual conference October 26-28, 2020. See you there!

SEAFWA Virtual Conference

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the Southeastern Association of Fisheries and Wildlife Associations (SEAFWA) will hold its annual conference virtually. A virtual conference is the best way to engage, share and connect with the natural resource community during this challenging time. The annual conference is a key mechanism to advance SEAFWA’s mission, and we hope that you will join us for an exciting and innovative virtual experience.

What will a Virtual Conference Look Like?

As we move the annual conference online, we look forward to offering the same informative and timely content from presenters and the space to connect with members, sponsors, and exhibitors from across the region.

The virtual conference will include our regular offerings and opportunities for engagement, including Plenary Session, Awards Ceremony, Organized Symposia, Oral & Poster Presentations, Trade Show, and Networking. Moving our in-person conference to a fully online format presents us with the unique opportunity to explore new tools for online collaboration and connection.

Why Attend a Virtual Conference?

Cost Savings: Participants will save money on reduced registration fees and no travel or hotel expenses. Volume discounts for agencies will also encourage more participation from professionals who have not been able to attend in the past.

Time Savings: Less travel time means more time to focus on the conference sessions and networking, and to handle other work and family responsibilities.

Sustainability: By eliminating the need for travel and reducing the energy required for an in-person event, our virtual conference will have a much smaller carbon footprint. It will also avoid the large amount of waste that would typically be generated at an in-person event (e.g. coffee cups, fliers, brochures).

Expanded Attendee Base: A virtual conference will allow participants to connect with a larger audience, many of whom may have not attended due to cost and travel constraints.

Flexibility: Participants will have access to the full schedule of meetings, either live or recorded, and can move easily between sessions.

Networking Opportunities: A virtual environment will provide new opportunities to engage fellow attendees in real-time chat, discussion forums and one on one video
