The incumbent oversees landowner assistance programs (including stewardship and rural forestry programs) for the 13 southern states and provides leadership, management and direction for those programs.  The incumbent provides leadership in the formulation of regional and national cooperative forest policies, plans, and oversees programs to restore, sustain and improve forest resources with the development and management of federal financial assistance and accomplishment tracking and reporting.

The incumbent oversees urban and community forestry programs for the 13 southern states and provides leadership, management and direction for those programs.  The incumbent is responsible for providing coordination between Forest Service programs and policies and state forestry agencies and other partners to address complex natural resource issues across the landscape that involve multiple jurisdictions. 

Both positions will be located in the Southern Region’s Regional Office, State & Private Forestry--Cooperative Forestry in Atlanta, Georgia.
